We've all heard the term, search engine optimization, but what does it mean? And why is it such an incredibly complex term? In plain language, it means ensuring that your customer can find your website on Google, and now on Gemini, ChatGPT, or whichever AI tools they use; that's what search engine optimization is all about.
2 seconds or less
As we all know, we live in a time where no one likes to wait. Today's research shows that people's patience has significantly decreased. If a website takes more than 2 seconds to load, there's an overwhelming chance that the user will give up waiting and exit the site.
Speed is essential.
At Flóra, we use the content management system Framer. What sets Framer apart from many older systems, like WordPress, is the way the code is written. Framer uses SSR, Server Side Rendering, which, in plain language, means the site arrives 'pre-assembled' so your browser doesn't have to do the heavy lifting. You don't have to wait for the browser to assemble the page; it arrives ready. This results in lightning-fast websites that appear almost instantly.
From SEO to AEO
We are mostly familiar with the concept of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but what about AEO?
AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. Today, users are starting to search differently. We use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini to ask questions. Instead of typing in keywords, we ask: “What is the best place to get a website done in Iceland?”
For AI (and Google) to answer this, it needs to understand your website. It needs to know what services you offer, what your pricing is, and where the location is.
Although Framer is a "No-Code" tool, meaning that the user of Framer doesn't write the code, we still have full control over the technical setup. We adhere to the strictest standards to ensure that the technology works with us:
Schema Markup: We tag the content so that machines understand the context.
Sitemap.xml: We create a map of the site for search engines.
Robots.txt: We control what search engines can read.
We work closely with our good friends at Digido, who are experts in digital marketing, to fine-tune content and SEO strategy. Our role at Flóra is to ensure that the technical fast lane is set up for traffic.
We aim for 100/100
In web development, there's a tool from Google called Lighthouse. It scans websites and rates them from 0 to 100 in four categories:
Performance
Accessibility
Best Practices
Search Engine Optimization
Achieving a score of 100 isn't a given. Most websites score much lower because they do not comply with Google's rules.
At Flóra, we're very precise when it comes to these matters; this is a foundation that cannot fail. If users can't find your website, they don't know you exist, no matter how beautiful the design or how well it's written. We want those circles to be green. By using Framer and meticulous practices, reaching 100/100 is a realistic goal. This ensures that your website receives the best possible treatment by Google.
Technology is not the same as technique
Performance, SSR, AEO, and schemas are complex words, but the outcome is simple: The customer finds you, the site loads instantly, and the experience is seamless.
If you want a website built on a solid technical foundation, we're open for a chat, hallo@florastudio.is or 547-8001.
